Bedsit body found three years on
A woman's remains were found in her bedsit nearly three years after she died, an inquest heard.
The TV and heating were still on when housing officials investigating rent arrears found Joyce Vincent's remains in her living room on 25 January.
As they forced the door of the flat in Wood Green, north London, they also found stacks of unopened mail, some dating back to February 2003.
No cause of death was found, but police think she died of natural causes.
A pathologist was unable to establish the cause of death - the body was so decomposed it had to be identified through dental records.
Ms Vincent, 40, is thought to have been in women's refuge accommodation.
As well as the post, medication and food which had February 2003 expiry dates were also found.
Deputy Coroner Andrew Walker recorded an open verdict at Hornsey Coroners' Court.

How can someone be dead for so long and no one noticed. I cannot understand the fact that this woman's body had been in her house for at least 1 year and most likely 2+years and nobody seemed to notice or give a shit. This woman was at least 40 years old, old enough to have had children, old enough to have made a few friends, old enough to have made an impact on someone in her life.
It says she might have been in a women's refuge. I thought when you were in such places, someone would come round to see you at least once a week or a fortnight at worse. How come no one from the women's refuge came to see her in all this time.
How come her mother/father, children, sisters/brothers, cousins, relatives or friends didnt call to see how she was doing? How come none of them came round to see how she was doing?
If i call my close friends and i dont hear from them, i would not wait 2 years before getting worried or something. Granted one shouldn't call the police after a day or 2 but waiting years before doing anything is just plain fucking ridiculous. WTF.
If i died and it took people who knew me 2 years to kick my door down to find my decomposed body, rest assured i will hunt all of them till the end of days until someone gives me a fucking good explanation as to why the hell they didnt check on me for so long.
The message of her later life and death is quite clear IMO.
No one cared if she lived. So she died.
