Order! Order!
One of the things i absolutely love about this country are the parliamentry sessions. Wednesday's are Prime Minister's questions and gives the MPs ample reason to behave like school children as they jeer and cheer freely. Today we got the extra offering of the Chancellor's budget speech. This is like giving school kids an extra hour to play however they see fit...in class.
The jeering and cheering throughout his speech was funny. This was nothing compared to that which punctuated the counter-speech by the leader of the opposition. Prompting the deputy speaker of the house to declare "Order, order, i will have order in this house. The gentleman will allow the leader of the opposition to respond or he will be escorted out". I just fucking love that. Lots of countries have really boring sessions with no fun aspect at all, everyone's too serious. Not us in the UK, we like a good show and every wednesday the members of parliament deliver.
I hope the UK parliament continues this fine tradition for many more years to come. I get the feeling however that someday some spoilsport will call for a ban on such childish behaviour. I dont think it will be heeded as he will probably be jeered out of the room.
Our MP's rule.
